Grand Canyon Genral Information

The Grand Canyon National Park, located in Arizona, is a beautiful and inspiring destination to visit. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, 18 miles wide and 1 mile deep filled with culture, history, nature, a one of a kind scenery, and sees nearly five million visitors every year! Most people enjoy the view from the South Rim due to it being most accessible and being open all year long, but it is also visible from the North Rim and sits about a thousand miles higher.

Visitors can enjoy the Inner Canyon by riding a mule, backpacking and riding the river. Before riding the river, you should know that it is never done in just one day and can take a few days up to a couple of weeks to finish! Don't forget the kids! The Grand Canyon has awesome, educational Ranger Programs to teach your little ones, and yourselves, more about being a Ranger in a national park.

Lodging is available on the South Rim at various lodging facilities, North Rim at the Grand Canyon Lodge, and overnight hikers can stay at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Canyon. Reservations for the campgrounds can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service for the Mather Campground on the South Rim and the North Rim Campground. For people staying outside of this area, they may ride the FREE shuttle bus to and from their destination.

Hiker's, get up early! The FREE Hiker's Express Shuttle Bus will take you to South Kaibab Trailhead where you can hike all day and enjoy the outdoors. While hiking, make sure to look for the many different species of plants and animals that are specially protected due to being threatened and endangered. The Grand Canyon is an awesome, educational experience that the whole family can enjoy!
